Meet Foreman’s “Fab Four” …,
My name is Eddie King Denard. I’m a 6’6’’ guard/forward and junior at Foreman High School. I decided to come to Foreman because of the great training of Coach Terrance Head. I have a few colleges showing interest, but my favorite is Kent State University in Ohio. I’m from the west side of Chicago, I think that’s why I’m so tough. My brother is the reason I’m playing basketball. If it wasn’t for the Foreman coaching staff and my teammates, I would be an average basketball player.
My name is Michael McCall junior. I’m a 6’1’’ guard and junior at Foreman High school. I’m not sure about what college I want to attend, but I have numerous offers. I grew up on the north side of Chicago. I decided to pick Foreman out of all the other high schools because some of my fellow teammates that I played AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) basketball with also decided to go there. My father was the one to put the ball in my hands, that’s the reason I’m as good as I am, but without coach head I wouldn't be nearly as good as I am now.
My name is Lavonte Dority. I’m a 6’2 junior point guard. I’ve been a varsity starter since I was a freshman. I picked Foreman because I felt this school was the best place for me to win a City and State Championship and because all of my teammates I grew up with decided to attend. I have many colleges I would consider going to, but none in particular. My father was the person who inspired me to play ball. I grew up on the west side of Chicago, where I developed my skills. I want to thank my teammates and all the people who encouraged me. My hard work makes me who I am.
My name is Willie Howard and I’m a senior at Foreman High School. I love playing basketball and I am also interested in cars, but basketball is my life. I came to Foreman with one goal which is to win the City Championship and State Championship, which I hope to accomplish before I leave. I want to attend college and I have lots of schools to choose from, I just haven't decided yet. Well that’s a little about me everybody! |

Foreman’s basketball leader, Coach Head, had plenty to say during his interview on February 10th. Our Hornet basketball team consists of 15 players, who are very dedicated. The team is ranked number 12 in the Chicago Tribune. Coach Head describes his team as dominant. They put all of their effort into every game because they really enjoy playing for Foreman High School. When the team does lose, they get infuriated because they work so hard to win. There is always a positive atmosphere when the team is together because they see each other as family. Foreman’s basketball team had decided not to play in the Thanksgiving Tournament because it was agreed that they wanted a tougher schedule. Foreman won one tournament, but lost two. This year has been up and down for Coach Head and his team, but after all, this year has also been fun for them. The Foreman basketball team has played 22 games, and they won 17 of them! In total, they will play 30 games. Foreman has beat Crane which was ranked number 25 at the time, Curse which was ranked number 14 at the time, and Marshall which was ranked number 8 at the time. As you can see, Foreman’s really been stepping it up! Coach Head confessed that he is very tough on his team because they want to be the best. Coach Head knows that no players or students are perfect but when one of the basketball team players get in trouble or is doing something bad for example getting detentions, getting suspended, cutting classes, or getting bad grades is what disappoints him the most. Coach Head loves being a coach, it has always been his dream since he was young. Coach Head would like everyone to know that his team is dedicated to be athletes and that they work real hard, being in a team is a huge commitment, they have to play and train a lot. People who don't attend the basketball games should start because it gives the players more support. More students should have school spirit. Very little students take pride in their school. There is roughly about 2,000 students who attend Foreman, but yet only about 100 students attend the basketball games. Coach Head would like the gym to get packed every time they play, |
